Abstract

The collection of magical lantern plaques preserved in the Historical Archive of the Barcelona Ateneu constitutes material testimony of great relevance for understanding the evolution of the mitjans of projection, at the Catalan academic and cultural level, from the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. Utilized as visual resources to conferences given by prominent figures of the time, these fish reflect the scientific and artistic interests of the illustrated sectors and allow us to reconstruct part of the visual imagination of the society of the moment.

This article, prepared from a Master's Degree in Conservation and Restoration of Photographic Heritage (ESCRBCC), has the main objective of proposing an intervention protocol adapted to the characteristics and needs of this group. Based on the analysis and contextualization, a methodology is proposed that seeks to guarantee the conservation of the collection, while promoting the evaluation as a documentary source in the fields of dissemination, photography and technological advances.
