La col·lecció de models d'animals del passat del Museu de Ciències Naturals de Barcelona

Abstract

Models have been part of the collections of natural history museums practically since their inception. Sometimes, despite having lost their usefulness as a pedagogical tool, they treasure aesthetic values. At the same time, they are a material testimony of the history of science and the evolution of scientific discourse. This work presents the results of the historical research carried out prior to the intervention of the collection of animal models from the past of the Museum of Natural Sciences of Barcelona. The direct treatments applied to the pieces and the virtual restoration process of one of the models are also explained.
