Documentation as a preventive conservation measure

Abstract

The woodblock is not only present at the start of fabric printing, it is also present at the start of the industrialisation of Catalonia. Unlike other work tools, it is the result of a complex artisanal, artistic and intellectual process whose legacy is being lost with the disappearance of the woodblocks. This study aims to contribute to the conservation of a collection of woodblocks, by documenting their history and the process of their creation, creating a template record, and linking the record to woodblocks with original drawings and stamped patterns
