Abstract

This article focuses on the application of new systems for the storage of taxidermized bird specimens in collection reserves, particularly addressing specimens that, due to their characteristics, require additional packaging materials, such as bases or supports, to ensure their stability and prevent tipping or falling.

A new methodology has been developed involving magnets attached to the bases of the specimens to anchor them securely to the reserve storage furniture. The obtained results significantly improve the stability of the specimens, reducing the need for additional packaging materials. This approach also aligns with the trend toward reducing single-use plastic materials. Magnets prove to be a versatile tool, offering a preventive and efficient methodology to avoid fallings and minimize the effects of vibrations on cultural heritage objects in storage or exhibitions.
