The conservation, restoration and museumisation process for the Barceloneta I (MUHBA).

Abstract

The final phase of the treatment of the medieval ship Barceloneta I was performed at the History Museum of Barcelona (MUHBA) and involved the stabilisation and final cleaning (scraping of metallic compounds and removal of excess PEG), measurement of the wood’s magnetism and pH, assembly and installation on a support and presentation in the permanent exhibition in a climate-controlled, monitored display case. It is currently still being studied and monitored
to ensure its long-term conservation.
