Aral System: Modification of the Conical Coil Spring System to Structurally Reinforce Painted Panels.

Abstract

The research undertaken in this paper reflects the Final Degree Project on the same subject. The principal objective was to evaluate several systems used to structurally reinforce painted panels and modify the conical coil spring system to improve its characteristics and uses. This is how the Aral system was created, a prototype based on a functional system which is intended to be an accessible standardisation for all conservators-restorers, as well as a versatile solution which is easy to set up using components with very disparate characteristics.
