Abstract

The study of historical interiors, which always takes into account both buildings and contents, requires a specific methodology to study and make decisions regarding future policy for this type of asset. The interdisciplinary framework proposed here incorporates preliminary studies in the fields of records, historical and artistic research, organoleptic testing, scientific analyses (environmental conditions with reference to water, biodeterioration, etc.) and inventories for the purpose, beyond the purely analytical and documentary, of establishing in the short, medium and long term, and from a fundamentally justified perspective, the protection and conservation plan best suited to each case.
